AntiRacism360 Cyprus Report: Youth Voices and Pathways to Inclusive Societies
Generation for Change CY, together with Youth for Exchange and Understanding Cyprus, presents the AntiRacism360: Empowering Youth for Inclusive Societies – Research Report Cyprus, exploring how racism manifests in Cyprus and how young people experience and respond to it. Based on a literature review and qualitative research, including interviews and a focus group with racialized and non-racialized youth, activists, youth workers, and educators, the report highlights that racism remains a daily reality, affecting access to housing, employment, and public institutions. It also points to racial profiling and negative media narratives that reinforce fear and exclusion, alongside the normalization of racist rhetoric in youth spaces and schools.
At the same time, the report emphasizes young people’s willingness to challenge racism, while identifying barriers such as fear of backlash, social isolation, and professional risks. It concludes with youth-informed recommendations, including the need for early antiracism education, stronger intercultural initiatives, enhanced diversity and inclusion training for state actors, improved media literacy, and greater support for educators to create inclusive, critical learning environments.
