Call for participants – BARISTA TRAINING

Call for participants - BARISTA TRAINING

The Unlocking Potential project is dedicated to empowering refugees in Cyprus by enhancing their employability and self-sufficiency. Its aim is to facilitate their integration into the Cypriot labor market. Through a comprehensive program, we hope to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary for success.

The core of the project is Barista Training, which will take place over the course of one week, from December 2 to December 6, 2024. This training will be held at Iheart training center at Giannou Krandioti 10b, Nicosia 1065 and is designed to provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the coffee industry.

After selecting the participants, their attendance is mandatory for all five days.

The training consists of several key components. Participants will engage in theoretical lessons covering the history of coffee and various brewing methods, laying a strong foundation for their skills. Following these lessons, hands-on practical sessions will allow participants to develop essential barista techniques.

To culminate the training, we will host a pilot event known as Open Coffee Day, where
participants will have the opportunity to serve coffee to community members, including representatives from the U.S. Embassy. This real-world experience is invaluable as it simulates the working environment they will encounter in industry.

Upon completion of the training, participants will receive the prestigious Specialty Coffee
Association Barista Certification, a credential that is recognized worldwide. This certification
will empower 10 motivated refugees to pursue careers in the coffee industry. enhancing their employability and self-sufficiency.

The training will be led by Tony Sebastian and his team from Iheart Coffee Roasters.
