Cyprus: Highest Food Security in the EU? Not for Everyone.

Cyprus: Highest Food Security in the EU? Not for Everyone.

According to the latest EUROSTAT data, Cyprus records the lowest rate of people unable to afford proper meals in the European Union. On paper, this looks like a success story. But these statistics do not show the reality for everyone living on the island.

For many migrants and asylum seekers in Cyprus, food insecurity is an everyday struggle. Around 1 in 2 asylum seekers do not have enough to eat and often do not know where their next meal will come from.* Yet their experiences are excluded from official data, leaving their needs invisible in both national and European statistics.

We believe that food security is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right that must be protected for everyone. To try and bridge this gap, we created the Donation Drive Program.

Every week in Nicosia, the program delivers essential packages to vulnerable households. These include baby formula, diapers, basic food items, hygiene products, clothing, and small household necessities, providing not just relief, but dignity and stability.

You can help us! You can make a difference by donating non-perishable food, baby formula, diapers, hygiene supplies, clothing, or kitchen items, or by volunteering your time once a week to help us prepare and deliver support packages.

If you need support or if you would like to volunteer, please reach out to us.
