DIGNIFIED Opens Dialogue on Asylum Narratives at the Nicosia Antiracist Festival
We are proud to share the success of the “Navigating Narratives of Asylum in Cyprus” workshop, held on Day 1 of the Nicosia Antiracist Festival.
The session explored how misinformation and disinformation around asylum, particularly regarding social welfare and reception conditions in Cyprus, shape public attitudes and influence policy decisions. More than 35 participants engaged in a fact-based and constructive discussion, gaining insight into the realities of reception conditions, structural challenges, and access to services for asylum seekers.
The workshop featured a project presentation, followed by an expert dialogue and open discussion with participants. We were honoured to host distinguished speakers:
The discussion was expertly moderated by Corina Demetriou – Legal Expert, Director of Symfiliosi, and National Expert of the European Network of Legal Experts in the non-discrimination field.
A heartfelt thank you to our speakers for sharing their expertise and insights, and to all participants who joined the conversation, asked questions, and contributed to such an engaging, evidence-based dialogue on migration and asylum.
The project DIGNIFIED is implemented within the framework of the PLATO programme, with Generation for Change CY as the implementing body. PLATO is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) Programme, the Bodossaki Foundation and the NGO Support Centre, with a total grant amount of €3.1 million.
