Empowering Creative and Civil Sector Professionals: RELATE Capacity-Building Trainings in Nicosia
On June 21 and 28, two successful capacity-building sessions were held in Nicosia, bringing together professionals, artists, creators, and volunteers who work with migrant and refugee communities in Cyprus.
These interactive workshops equipped participants with practical tools to recognize and challenge discrimination, respond to racism and exclusion, and integrate safeguarding principles into their professional and creative environments.
The sessions featured powerful contributions from guest speakers, including Irene Che, who shared insights on the rights of migrant women, and Diamond from African LGBTIQ Cyprus, who highlighted the lived experiences of LGBTIQA+ migrants and refugees. Their perspectives enriched the discussions and deepened understanding of inclusive, equitable, and protective practices.
Organized by Generation for Change CY, with support from KEEAED, Visual Voices, and L’atelier des artistes en exil, the trainings were held under the RELATE project, co-funded by the European Union through the CERV program. The Municipality of Nicosia and its Multifunctional Foundation also provided vital support.
We thank all participants and partners for their dedication to creating safer and more inclusive spaces for migrants and refugees through culture and civic engagement.
