Graduation of the Sewing & Tailoring Program
As the ELEVATE HERight project comes to a close, we marked the end of this round of Weekly Sewing & Tailoring Sessions with a small celebration and the awarding of certificates
Over the past eight months, participants have shown consistent engagement and dedication, attending weekly sessions, developing practical sewing and tailoring skills, and contributing to a supportive and safe learning environment. The sessions quickly became more than a skills-building workshop, offering a space for confidence-building, connection, and the sharing of experiences.
We would like to thank all the women who took part in the sessions for their time, effort, and commitment. A special thank you goes to the instructors, whose guidance and encouragement made this journey possible.
These sessions were part of a broader set of activities aimed at preventing and combating gender‑based violence against migrant and refugee women through empowerment, awareness‑raising, access to support services, and community‑building. Through awareness-raising initiatives, discussions, and individualized case management support, the project helped create spaces where women could feel supported, connect, and grow together.
The ELEVATE HERight project was implemented within the framework of the PREVENT program by Generation for Change CY and the Cyprus Family Planning Association. PREVENT is co-funded by the European Union, through the Citizens Equality Rights and Values (CERV) program, the Bodossaki Foundation, and the NGO Support Centre, with a total grant amount of €2.3 million.
