Join Our Team: Education Coordinator and Integration Officer Positions Open at Generation for Change CY

Who we are: Generation for Change CY (GFC) is a grassroots non-profit organization composed of individuals of different backgrounds working together and striving for a diverse and inclusive society where everyone has equitable access to opportunities in Cyprus. GFC is committed to positive social change by supporting vulnerable and marginalized communities – including but not limited to persons of low socioeconomic status, refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and any persons facing discrimination. We are looking for an Education Coordinator and an Integration Officer to join our team in Nicosia starting on 15/04/2024.

Position Title: Education Coordinator

Position Details: The position will start on 15/04/2024. This is a full-time and long-term role based in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Role and Responsibilities: The Education Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Designing and developing English and Greek language learning lesson plans and courses suitable for face-to-face, blended, and online delivery.
  • Delivering face-to-face, blended, and online English and Greek language learning courses.
  • Organizing and facilitating education-related training and guidance for volunteer teachers and trainees.
  • Developing and delivering training on inclusive, anti-racist, and migrant education for educators, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the design of projects and grant proposals in the field of education, with a particular focus on language teaching.
  • Supporting the overall design of activities in education and language teaching.
  • Assisting in coordinating, evaluating, and reporting education-related projects and programs.
  • Conducting research and reporting on migrant education and integration-related topics.
  • Representing the organization at public events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Teaching English or Greek as a Second Language, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience or training in teaching English or Greek as a second language.
  • Proficiency in English and Greek.
  • Experience in teaching or educational program coordination, preferably with non-Greek and non-English speaking refugees and migrants.
  • Knowledge of inclusive, anti-racist, and migrant education principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the unique challenges faced by refugees and migrants in the education system.
  • Knowledge of the education system and policies in Cyprus.
  • Experience in grant writing and project proposal development.
  • Certification in Teaching English or Greek to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or equivalent.
  • Certification in Adult Education or equivalent.
  • Experience in online teaching and familiarity with digital tools and learning platforms.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse team environment.
  • Knowledge of French, Arabic or other languages commonly spoken by refugees and migrants in Cyprus.

Position Title: Integration Officer

Position Details: The position will start on 15/04/2024. This is a full-time and long-term role based in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Role and Responsibilities: The Integration will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide individual career counseling and guidance sessions to migrants and refugees.
  • Facilitate and conduct job readiness training.
  • Keep up to date with other services provision (accommodation, health, legal aid, etc.), job or educational opportunities, and changes in labor legislation to share accordingly with beneficiaries and refer if needed.
  • Serve as a liaison with employers, formal educational institutes, public services, or other service providers.
  • Browse, gather, and edit recent and relevant job announcements for the biweekly Job Adverts bulletin.
  • Assisting in the design of projects and grant proposals focused on migrant and refugee integration.
  • Supporting the overall design of integration activities.
  • Managing, evaluating, and reporting on integration-related projects and programs.
  • Conducting research and reporting on migrant and refugee integration, including employment.
  • Support developing and delivering training for inclusive, anti-racist, and migrant integration professionals, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Representing the organization at public events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in career counseling or job readiness training, preferably with migrants and refugees.
  • Proficiency in English and Greek.
  • Knowledge of the services available for migrants and refugees in Cyprus, including accommodation, health, and legal aid.
  • Familiarity with the labor legislation and job market in Cyprus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with vulnerable and marginalized communities, particularly refugees and migrants.
  • Experience in grant writing and project proposal development.
  • Knowledge of French, Arabic or other languages commonly spoken by refugees and migrants in Cyprus.
  • Ability to effectively use ICT and digital tools.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse team environment.
