MINDSET Project: Empowering Young Migrants and Refugees through Entrepreneurial Opportunities
Entrepreneurship opportunities for young people are vital for their empowerment, economic independence, and active participation in society, allowing them to shape their futures and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
However, in Cyprus, many young migrants and refugees face structural barriers such as limited access to funding and support mechanisms, legal restrictions, and discrimination, which hinder their ability to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
On March 24, we hosted a focus group at our office to explore the obstacles and needs related to entrepreneurship for young migrants and refugees.
Ten aspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds and with various business goals joined the discussion to share their future career plans, their challenges, and the skills they need to launch and sustain their ventures. Their contributions provided valuable insights into the specific entrepreneurial needs of young migrants and helped move our project forward.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and shared their experiences!
This focus group was conducted under the MINDSET project. The next step involves developing a mini report and a practical toolkit based on the findings, followed by tailored training for young migrants and refugees on essential entrepreneurial skills, as well as training for professionals who work with them.
MINDSET is co-funded by the EU through the Erasmus+ program.
