As individuals transition from youth to adulthood, they undergo numerous changes and face challenges. Young people becoming adults also take on increased responsibilities, such as securing employment, managing finances, and making future decisions. They face social pressures to conform to norms, including academic success and physical appearance.

For displaced youth, like refugees, these challenges are intensified. Displaced youth must manage these transitions while adjusting to an unfamiliar environment, leading to significant emotional distress and mental health challenges. This is akin to navigating a new city while simultaneously learning a new language and culture—a formidable task.

Specific Objectives

Through the BEYOND project, the partners aim to offer holistic assistance to vulnerable young people transitioning into adulthood, including unaccompanied minors in Cyprus. Our goal is to strengthen their resilience and address mental health challenges, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive.

Key Activities

  1. Development of a research-informed comprehensive roadmap containing interventions based on the discovered priority needs (e.g., mental health awareness campaigns, stress management workshops, culturally sensitive counseling services, skill-building programs to enhance resilience, etc.);
  2. Testing of the roadmap incorporating the implementation of actions suggested in the roadmap;
  3. Dissemination of the roadmap to key stakeholders working with vulnerable young people.
