European Solidarity Corps Volunteering Program at GFC
About the Program
Generation for Change CY (GFC) proudly participates in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), a European Union initiative offering paid volunteering opportunities to young people aged 18-30 from the EU and other participating countries. Our ESC program is designed to promote solidarity, inclusion, and positive social impact.
Since 2024, GFC has been hosting young volunteers through this initiative. ESC volunteers join us for 9–12 months, actively supporting our work and gaining valuable personal and professional experience.
Who We Are
GFC is a migrant-led grassroots nonprofit based in Nicosia, Cyprus. We work to promote equity and inclusion by empowering marginalized communities, including refugees, migrants, and individuals of low socioeconomic status. Our work is structured across three core pillars:
- Humanitarian Aid
- Empowerment and Integration
- Awareness-Raising and Advocacy
What ESC Volunteers Do
ESC volunteers play supportive roles in the implementation of our programs. Depending on their background and interests, volunteers contribute to:
- Coordinating and implementing projects
- Delivering language, digital, and employment skills courses
- Assisting with the provision of material aid to vulnerable families
- Supporting awareness campaigns and events
- Engaging in research, outreach, and social media
- Designing educational content and supporting project proposals
Volunteers work approximately 28 hours per week, and their tasks are tailored during the onboarding process.
What We Offer
Volunteers are supported throughout their ESC journey at GFC with:
- Accommodation in fully furnished apartments (private room with shared facilities)
- Monthly stipend of €400 for food and personal expenses (paid within the first 3 working days of each month)
- Travel reimbursement within the first 3 days of arrival in Cyprus
- Local transport support, including a bicycle or monthly bus pass
- Health insurance coverage (Henner ESC official insurance)
- Language support in English and Greek upon request
- Ongoing training, supervision, and mentorship
- A four-day work week, plus local and public holidays
Program Duration
- 15 March 2024 – 31 December 2027
- Each volunteer typically joins for 9 to 12 months, depending on the call and availability.

Funding
Our ESC volunteering project is fully funded under the European Solidarity Corps program, ensuring that participation is free of charge for the selected volunteers.
