The discussion on the European Commission’s New Pact on Migration and Asylum
What an insightful event!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the engaging and informative discussion on the European Commission’s New Pact on Migration and Asylum and the recent experiences of migrants and refugees in Cyprus.
We were honored to have Emmanuel Achiri, PhD, Policy and Advocacy Advisor of ENAR, Elias Kaswani from the Syrian Community, Maysa Kahen from African LGBTQIA+ Cyprus, Chris Pissarides from AFOA, and Stephane Noel from the Cameroonian Community and GFC, share their invaluable insights and experiences.
The event was a testament to the significance of dialogue and the importance of understanding the challenges faced by migrants and refugees in our society. We saw the key components of the new Pact, the concerns about their implementation, and the latest experiences of migrants and refugees in Cyprus from restrictions to the labor market and the impact of limited opportunities.
We are inspired by the thoughtful conversations and the attendees’ presence, which displays their commitment to supporting just and equity-based treatment for migrants and refugees in Cyprus.
Thank you to our co-organizers, Afoa, and to all for making this event a success.
